Gutenberg, a new way to create posts

With WordPress 5 came a big change that WordPress has been announcing for over a year. A change that not everyone was ready to embrace (who has time to learn a new way to create posts?). Gutenberg is the new editor that allows to create posts and pages with blocks, meaning that your content exists of blocks for everything. From titles, to paragraphs, images and videos. It’s just a new way of creating content.

Fortunately, for those of you not ready to embrace the new way, the Classic Editor plugin was created to disable Gutenberg so you can continue blogging the ‘old’ way. Here’s how you do it.

How to put Gutenberg on hold

Here’s how to change back to the previous editing style.

  1. Go to Plugins
  2. Add New
  3. Search for the Classic Editor
  4. Install and Activate

That’s it! The plugin automatically disables the Gutenberg editor and you’re back to the familiar style of editing. Now you can go your merry way to pump out those blog posts.

You can only resist change for so long

We humans resist change, but while that is a temporary fix (until 2021), you may want to take some time to learn working with Gutenberg. Once you’ve tried it out, you may like the visual way of creating your posts with drag and drop much better.

When you’re ready to learn, watch these videos for a Gutenberg tutorial.
